This bridge features four large semi-circular arches.

It is supported by buttresses, and at the ends, there are stairs leading to the upper part of the bridge. Underneath, you will find attractive gardens with a niche containing a sculpture of the Virgin of Guadalupe carved in quarry stone.

On October 30, 2001, the mural "Paso Hernán Cortés por los Barrios de Xalapa" (Hernán Cortés' Journey through the Neighborhoods of Xalapa) located on the upper part of the Xalitic Bridge was restored.

Xallitic is one of the four original indigenous settlements upon which 16th-century Xalapa would grow. This neighborhood was founded by the Totonac people from Naolinco.

In the early 19th century, the spring shrine and the still-operational wash basins were built.

Puente Xalitic
