Most of the historic buildings are located in this sector of the city.

Many of them date back to the colonial era, such as the Parish of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, the Church of Cristo del Buen Viaje, the Church of La Pastora, as well as former convents like San Francisco or Santo Domingo.

Additionally, it is a place where the old port flavor is still preserved, especially in Los Portales.

One of the most enjoyable ways to explore all the attractions of the center is by taking one of the "tranvías," which are actually cars decorated like trams reminiscent of those operated by the Pearson company in the 1920s.
