This alley gets its name from a legend.
It is said that in an old house, a creole woman and a Spanish gentleman lived as a married couple. During their courtship, he had given her a ring adorned with a beautiful black diamond. However, the gentleman had a friend with whom his wife betrayed him in his absence.
During one of his trips, the lady visited her lover's house and took off her ring, leaving it behind in the bedroom.
When her husband returned, he went to visit his friend and found him sleeping in his room, where he saw the jewel belonging to his wife.
Discreetly, he took the ring and said goodbye to his friend. Upon arriving home, he called his beautiful wife and, while kissing her hand, realized that she was not wearing the ring. In a fit of rage, he plunged his dagger into her chest and left the black diamond ring on her body.
Today, it has become one of the most traditional alleys in the city, known for its murals and the various establishments such as cafes, craft stalls, and bookstores.
Here, you can acquire beautiful souvenirs, and if you sit in one of its cafes, you will have the opportunity to experience a unique atmosphere.
