This town was founded in 1714 by the Franciscans.

It was built on the remains of a previous community that had settled in 1620 but was destroyed during indigenous uprisings in the region.

The name is in honor of a prominent figure during the War of Independence, and although it is a small town, it has had important historical events. In 1848, it was attacked by the U.S. Army, and later it sheltered Benito Juárez during the French invasion.

Among its attractions are the Bachimba Estate, dating back to the Porfiriato era, and the Santa Cruz Church.

Other sites to visit include the San José Chapel and the old Aqueduct built in the 18th century.

Near Rosales, you can find the Francisco I. Madero Dam, known as Las Vírgenes, ideal for fishing and boating. It is located only 8 km from Delicias.
