A BORDER CITY WITH MUCH TO TELL
The original name of the city was Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe de los Mansos del Paso del Norte, or simply Paso del Norte.
And that's what it was called until the late 19th century, a name still retained by the American city on the other side of the Rio Grande.
Throughout the turbulent 19th century, marked by the Wars of Independence, the Reform War, and foreign interventions, this city was always present. During the French intervention and the so-called Empire of Maximilian of Habsburg, President Benito Juárez, harassed by the French army, sought refuge here in August 1865 and remained until he was able to return to the city of Chihuahua in a clear triumph for the Republic in 1867.
As a fitting tribute to the challenging moment Mexico faced when Juárez stayed in Paso del Norte in 1889, the State Congress decided to change the name of the old town of Guadalupe del Paso del Norte to its current name, Ciudad Juárez.
Ciudad Juárez offers great business opportunities, entertainment, culture, history, and tourist attractions. It is a city filled with exciting shows, from thrilling car races, rodeos, bullfights, golf tournaments, and motorcycle races, just to name a few.
