TOP SIGHTS IN CIUDAD JUÁREZ

Catedral de Ciudad Juárez (Cathedral)

Adjacent to the old mission stands the Ciudad Juárez Cathedral.

Construction of this building began in 1935, was expanded in 1976, and its beautiful neoclassical towers were completed in 1978.

The interior is notable for the beauty of its stained glass windows and the pediment on its facade, showcasing refined neoclassical style.

El Chamizal

A strip of land that had been disputed with the United States since 1864 and was reclaimed in 1967. It spans approximately 1.2 km2.

A park was established on this land, housing the Museum of Archaeology, which exhibits various replicas and some original artifacts from the most important cultures that flourished in Mexico during the pre-Hispanic era.

Its green areas serve as a recreational space for the locals.

Iglesia de San José (Church)

A small chapel that remains from the old Real Presidio de Nuestra Señora del Pilar y San José, founded in 1682.

The cemetery located at the back is interesting, as it still displays tombstones with the names of illustrious locals who were prominent figures in the 19th century.

La Casa de Adobe

Located about 7 km northeast of the Plaza de Armas, it stands on the exact spot where the original adobe house once stood.

That old building served as the provisional presidency of Francisco I. Madero during the Revolution.

This is an exact replica, situated precisely on the Mexico-United States border, where three states meet: Texas, New Mexico, and, of course, Chihuahua.

Guadalupe Mission

This temple was part of the mission of Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe del Paso del Norte. The mission was responsible for the religious education of the Piros and Mansos indigenous people, under the guidance of the Franciscan friar, Fray García de San Francisco.

It also served as a resting point for caravans that annually traveled from Mexico City, loaded with merchandise and weapons, on their way to Santa Fe in New Mexico.

This church follows the design of other Franciscan missions, featuring simplicity but with a beautiful interior space. The most distinctive feature is the intricately carved and polychrome wooden ceiling with finely crafted geometric elements.It also served as a resting point for caravans that annually traveled from Mexico City, loaded with merchandise and weapons, on their way to Santa Fe in New Mexico.

Parque Central "Hermanos Escobar" (Park)

This is a space with an artificial lake where visitors can take boat rides.

It also features playgrounds, sports facilities, and green areas.

Due to its location and amenities, it is an ideal place for family gatherings.

Plaza de la Mexicanidad

It has become one of the city's iconic landmarks.

It features an imposing sculpture in the shape of an "X" with a height of 64 meters, created by the sculptor Sebastián. This symbolizes change, commitment to truth, and the determination to move forward, transcend, and build the future.

It is located at the northern end of Parque el Chamizal.
