PICTURESQUE STREETS WITH BEAUTIFUL COLONIAL BUILDINGS

San Ignacio was originally a Jesuit mission founded in the 16th century.

Today, this Pueblo Mágico offers beautiful European-style architecture that you can appreciate as you stroll through its tranquil streets adorned with various monuments.

Its deep-rooted traditions are reflected in its artisanal works. Here, you will find beautiful rustic furniture, and in the small town of San Javier, a wide variety of pottery pieces are produced using the engretado clay technique.

Its surroundings will also surprise you with cave paintings and an archaeological zone.

Located in the south of the state of Sinaloa, it is approximately two and a half hours from Culiacán and an hour and a half from Mazatlán.

Atractivos Turísticos de San Ignacio

Plazuela Constitución

It is the gathering place for locals, surrounded by beautiful gardens with a typical gazebo in the center. From the plaza, you can observe the sober Municipal Palace building and the Temple of San Ignacio Loyola.

La Capilla del Diablo

This site is associated with the legend of Bernardo Escoboza, who sold his soul to the devil to become the richest man in town. Ask the locals; they will be happy to tell you the full story. It is located on a small hill at the entrance to the town.

San Ignacio Community Museum

Located in the old parish house, it displays various items that showcase the history of this municipality. An impressive biblical mural stands out.

Jaguar Museum 

This is the first museum dedicated to the jaguar, an emblematic animal of the country. It has four rooms with interactive information about the feline and its importance. The museum includes a botanical garden and offers various workshops, hiking tours, camps, and photography contests. It is located in the community of Cabazán. Open from 9:00 to 17:00 hrs.

Templo de San Ignacio Loyola

Built by the Jesuits in the 19th century, it is an iconic building in the town. It features a neoclassical facade. Inside, the atrium's slope stands out, with its lush palm decoration, which is quite rare in other churches in the region.

Museum of Popular Culture

This museum houses the cultural history of San Ignacio's inhabitants, including traditional costumes.

Callejón del Beso (Alley of the Kiss)

This is a beautiful corner of the town that is a must-visit for all romantics and lovers. This magical place features murals and poems on the walls, and at night, it is dimly lit to create a mystical atmosphere, making it a great spot for memorable photos. It is located in front of the Temple of San Ignacio Loyola.

Barras de Piaxtla 

This area features 14 kilometers of bays, estuaries, and lagoons. It is part of the Meseta de Cacaxtla, a natural protected area. It offers beautiful beaches with few visitors, excellent for swimming and water sports. Additionally, it is an ideal place to enjoy delicious fresh seafood prepared with local recipes. It is located an hour from the Pueblo Mágico.

Las Labradas

These are unique geological cliff formations in Mexico, located along the coastal strip for 343 meters. There are over 700 petroglyphs on basalt rocks of volcanic origin. There is a small museum and services available. It is located an hour from San Ignacio. Open from 8:00 to 17:00 hrs.

In the westernmost part of San Ignacio lies the so-called Cajón de Piaxtla, a place where interesting cave paintings have been found.

Cristo de la Mesa

Located on a hill on the banks of the Piaxtla River, it is said that the enormous sculpture of Christ has its stone arms extended to protect the inhabitants of San Ignacio.
