BAY WITH BEAUTIFUL BEACHES AND NATURAL SANCTUARIES
It is located only 23 kilometers from Los Mochis and was founded in 1884 by Albert Kimsey Owen in the bay of the same name, separated from the Sea of Cortez by 2 kilometers wide sand dunes.
Nestled on the stunning coastline of Sinaloa, lies the picturesque port town of Topolobampo. This hidden gem, with its azure waters, golden beaches, and breathtaking landscapes, is a captivating destination for travelers seeking an authentic taste of Mexican charm. With a delectable cuisine, and an abundance of natural wonders, Topolobampo has something to offer every visitor.
It is one of the two most important ports in the state of Sinaloa and is the beginning of the international trade corridor. It is also the departure point for the ferry that travels to La Paz, Baja California.
Topolobampo's culinary scene is an absolute delight. Seafood takes center stage here, fresh from the day's catch. Indulge in succulent shrimp, delectable ceviche, and traditional fish tacos, all served with a touch of local flair. On this beach there are several restaurants where you can taste the fresh seafood that characterizes the region, especially the famous “pescado zarandeado” (dish of grilled snapper is marinated in a dried chile) and the seafood cocktail.
Topolobampo is known for its beaches of immense dunes and crystal clear waters. You can enjoy a walk on the boardwalk and visit the viewpoint.
In addition, you can practice kayaking and take a boat ride through the beautiful waters of the Sea of Cortez in the company of friendly dolphins.
Bahía de Topolobampo
In front of the Topolobambo Bay are located two islands considered natural sanctuaries: the Farallón Island, inhabited by sea lions, and the Island of Birds habitat of ducks, pelicans, herons and other birds.
Just 10 km from Topolobampo Bay, is The Maviri, a natural area consisting of a long sandy island on one side and mangrove vegetation on the other side. It is connected to land by two bridges, one of which is currently used for fishing.
It has long beaches of fine sand that overlook the open sea. Its strong waves make it an ideal place for those who like to practice surfing, but it is also a place to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Other sports that can be practiced are diving and fishing.
Beyond the coastal allure, Topolobampo also serves as a gateway to explore the Copper Canyon, a stunning natural wonder often compared to the Grand Canyon in the United States. Adventure seekers can embark on scenic train rides through the rugged canyons, marveling at the mesmerizing vistas and indigenous Tarahumara communities
