TOPOLOBAMPO BAY
In front of El Maviri is the Farallón de San Ignacio, which is the habitat of a great variety of birds and also hundreds of sea lions and seals.
COSALÁ
Mineral de Nuestra Señora Ecological Reserve
The reserve is ideal for spending a day in contact with nature. In the middle of its wooded landscape it is possible to see up to 108 bird species. In addition, you can visit the green macaw aviary. Located just 10 km from Cosalá.
CULIACÁN
Santa Maria Bay
In this beautiful bay, located 60 km from Culiacán, there are a series of islands including the Islote de las Tunitas, which is 2 km wide and is surrounded by mangroves. The islet is the habitat of thousands of birds such as herons, pelicans, booby ducks, Canadian ducks, swallows, earwigs, gulls and corochis, among others.
EL ROSARIO
Estuary in Escuinapa
You can navigate from El Mezcal until you reach the estuary in Escuinapa, just 20 minutes from the Magical Town of El Rosario, and enjoy the landscape and all the birds that live there such as osprey, bucket heron and roseate spoonbill. Besides you will also observe some crocodiles.
Bird Watching in Sinaloa
El Palmito
In the municipality of Concordia, located within the Sierra Madre Occidental, is the community of El Palmito, a beautiful place to walk along trails in the middle of a magnificent pine and oak forest where more than 190 bird species live. This place has the most important population in the country of the Chara Pinta, an endemic species of Sinaloa.
You will also have the opportunity to observe other birds such as: flag bird, green macaw, red-tailed hawk and peregrine falcon. It is located two and a quarter hours from El Rosario and a similar distance from Mazatlán.
LOS MOCHIS
Isla Pájaros (Birds Island)
It is a kilometer and a half in diameter and is located in Topolobampo, just 25 minutes from Los Mochis. It is perhaps one of the best places for birding in the northeast region of the country.
The island is surrounded by a ring of mangroves and the vegetation on the island's surface consists of scrub and large cacti and is the habitat of thousands of birds such as cormorants, brown and white herons, gray pelicans, seagulls, frigate birds, osprey, dark ibis, vultures, chanates, roosters, among others. It is noteworthy that it is not only the diversity but also the size of the colonies that inhabit the island.
