It is renowned for its architecture and for being the venue where the Treaties of Córdoba were signed in 1821.

It was one of the first buildings in the country to incorporate Art Nouveau style in Mexico. Inside, you can still see some original paintings and ironwork.

Currently, it houses the Cultural Center Los Portales, where exhibitions by various artists take place, as well as workshops and conferences.
