It was founded in 1715.

This place still preserves the adobe church and the interesting historical museum Casa de Toribio Ortega, which exhibits objects related to the Revolutionary era.

In the town, you can visit the San Diego de Coyame Mission, founded in 1715, which has had various uses, leaving only fragments of the original building.

There is also a spa fed by thermal waters, which has 6 pools, including one with a rock in the center of the pool, barbecue areas, and green spaces for family enjoyment.

For those who enjoy water activities, the spa is not the only option, as the nearby San Pedro and Cuchillo Parado Dams are ideal for camping and fishing.

Additionally, Coyame is the starting point for the exploration of natural wonders such as the Pegüis Canyon and the Coyame Caves.

In this desert, the last herds of pronghorns, the only species of antelope in America, can be found.

In this region, a characteristic agave grows, used to produce the famous sotol, the typical beverage of Chihuahua.

Tres Castillos, located 80 km from Coyame, is also worth a visit. It is not only attractive for its natural characteristics but also for its history, as it was the site of the Battle of Tres Castillos, marking the end of 200 years of battles with Apache tribes. In this impressive plain, there are three small hills composed of granite rock, commonly known as the "tres castillos" (three castles). What's impressive is that the Apache trenches are still intact. We recommend going accompanied by a local guide.
