You can visit the rivers Suchiate, Malá, Mixcum, Shujubal, and Salem to take a dip in their cool waters and regain vitality and energy.
Visit the waterfalls of Muxbal and Monteperla, which flow over volcanic rocks and are surrounded by lush vegetation.
Explore Pico de Loro, a rock formation that offers spectacular panoramic views of the Sierra, the Tacaná volcano, and on clear days, you can even see Tajumulco in Guatemala.
One of the main attractions in the area is the Tacaná volcano, which is still active. Climbing to its summit is a challenge for mountain climbing enthusiasts, with its elevation of 4,100 meters above sea level. As you ascend, you will experience different climates and observe the changing vegetation of the Sierra Madre. Below 1,000 meters, there is a semi-warm climate ideal for coffee plantations. At around 1,800 meters, you reach a forested landscape combined with cloud forest, and above 2,700 meters, it becomes a cold climate with grassy plains, until reaching the summit where the only high-altitude paramo in Chiapas is located.
