Founded in 1567, it is the oldest mining town in Chihuahua.
It is a destination that offers pleasant tranquility and a lot of history.
You can wander through its small, intricate streets that resemble those of Parral and take in the panoramic views of the surrounding hills.
In this town, you can visit the Community Mining Museum, which has four rooms exhibiting mining artifacts and historical documents, as well as fossils, minerals, and pieces from the Rarámuri and Tepehuán ethnic groups.
The Parish of Santa Bárbara, built by Franciscans in 1571, is one of the first churches in the entire state of Chihuahua, and is considered a cultural heritage site.
Other interesting places include the old railway station, dating back to the late 19th century, and the spectacular Santa Bárbara Viewpoint, which rises among majestic hills and features a statue of Christ the King. It is an ideal spot for hiking, offering an unbeatable panoramic view afterward.
During your visit, be sure to try the street food, especially in the city center. You can enjoy quesadillas, gorditas, and artisanal bread.
The town is located 20 minutes from Parral.
