It is a Zapotec town that dates back to 1200 BC.

The first friars who arrived to evangelize were Dominicans and they chose Saint Paul to be the patron saint of the town.

The main attraction is the Ex-Convent, which dates back to the 16th century. The architectural complex features an atrial courtyard, a convent, and a temple with beautiful neoclassical altars.

The central courtyard houses a community museum with archaeological remains found in the region.
