Its name comes from the surname of the owner's wife, who was of Basque origin.

This picturesque village settled in what was once the Arrazola Hacienda, which was mainly dedicated to the production of sugar and aguardiente.

Arrazola has gained fame for the ingenuity of its artisans, which is reflected in the carving of copal wood, creating a fantastic zoology that is exhibited and sold in the artisans' own homes under the name of "alebrijes."

You can visit the Casa Museo de Manuel Jiménez, where you can appreciate these unique creations. One of the rooms showcases the life and work of Don Manuel, who was the creator of this tradition of carving wooden animals, which he stylized and colored in a more attractive way.
