In pre-Hispanic times, it was inhabited by the Yoreme-Mayo indigenous people.

It has evolved into the economic center of the region, with agriculture being its main activity.

Walking through its streets, you can learn more about its history. The Sacred Heart of Jesus Church and the Mayo Regional Museum stand out, where the history of the place is narrated.

Another attraction is the Tehuelibampo Agua Azul Site Ecomuseum, located in the ravine of the same name, where you can see rocks with petroglyphs and cave paintings from the Mayo culture dating back more than 3,000 years.

Characterized by its excellent climate, it's ideal for sport fishing and ecological tours through the mountains and the Mayo River, where you can take boat or kayak rides.

A few kilometers away, you'll find the beaches of Huatabampito, Las Bocas, and Camahuiroa, with stunning landscapes where the desert meets the Sea of Cortez.

Also, a short distance to the south, there is an artisan Mayo community in Masiaca. It's a place that has preserved its customs and traditions, which are reflected in each of their crafts.
