This territory was occupied by Ópatas and Pimas Altas until 1647 when Marcos del Río established a mission.

This mission was named Los Santos Reyes de Cucurpe. Currently, only a few remnants remain, such as its bell tower and arches.

One of its most important attractions are the petroglyphs located in the San Miguel River.

15 km northwest of this town, you can venture into the Sierra de Cucurpe, a place for those who enjoy exploring rugged places with several high rock walls.

In addition, as part of the adventure, you can find caves and rocks with rock paintings depicting animals, humans, or hands, all of this within a kilometer's distance from Cucurpe.

Here, you can camp, go hiking, or mountain climbing.
