CEDO is dedicated to the research and understanding of marine life in the northern Gulf of California, as well as the study of the characteristics of the Sonoran Desert.

The center promotes the conservation of natural resources and has an aquarium open to the public. It also offers workshops and talks about natural history and tours that become an adventure where you can explore estuary ecosystems, tide pools, and the desert.

Among its excursions are trips to Marua Estuary, exploration of intertidal pools, visits to Cholla Bay, and exploration of dunes and craters in the volcanic region of Pinacate, among others.

CEDO has a visitor center, a gift shop, and a library.
