Its name means "where the water turns."
Founded in 1639 on the banks of the Sonora River, on a beautiful plateau surrounded by oak forests and grasslands.
It has a spring of thermal waters and features the beautiful Templo de Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, dating back to the 17th century, a pleasant square with a kiosk, and the region's first mill built in 1674. All this is framed within its colonial flavor of yesteryear.
In its main square, there is a large rock with bas-reliefs carved by Opata indigenous people, the group that populated this region before the arrival of the Spaniards.
In the surroundings, there are several cattle ranches that you can visit, where you can spend a dayengaging in various countryside activities such as horseback riding, milking cows, or harvesting chiltepín peppers.
