The tower houses a carillon with 48 bells that play melodies every hour to accompany the figures of the 12 apostles parading on a pedestal.

The interior consists of a single nave, predominantly in the Neoclassical style with side chapels.

There is a multimedia show projected on the facade of the cathedral, from Thursday to Sunday at 8:00 PM with intervals of 20 minutes. The projection lasts for 10 minutes and provides a brief tour of Bonampak, the jungle, the parachicos, and the colors and traditions of Chiapas.
