This is one of the four main theaters in Mexico.

It is located in part of what used to be the Convent of Carmen.

It was built by architect José Noriega and inaugurated on December 4, 1894. It features a beautiful facade made of pink quarry stone, with fluted columns supporting a portico in an elegant neoclassical style.

Its dome has a bronze sculpture symbolizing the Porfirian eagle.

Its magnificent lobby is illuminated by light filtering through the dome, and a large chandelier stands out. Along the stairs, you can see magnificent works by various renowned artists.

The theater has a spacious hall with three levels and a capacity of approximately 1,450 people.

Adjacent to the theater are the Flavio F. Carlos Hall, for concerts, and the Gerván Gedovius Hall, for exhibitions.
