It dates back to 1833 and was created to commemorate Independence, inaugurated by Antonio López de Santa Anna.

Within the garden, there is a sundial, and on the obelisk, there is an engraved plaque with distances from Fresnillo to relevant points on the planet, such as the North Pole (7,424 km), the Prime Meridian (10,510 km), and the Equator (2,574 km), to name a few.

It is a pleasant place to walk around and rest on its benches.
