Weddings in Merida require a valid passport and an original and copy of birth certificates annotated and translated by an authorized translator certified in Spanish before any civil ceremony. For something really original you can have a Mayan ceremony with a Mayan high priest in the middle of a sacred cenote in an ancestral and spiritual environment. A good option is the X-batun cenote.
