TOP SIGHTS IN COMALA
Historic Center of Comala
The Plaza de Armas is the heart of Comala.
At its center stands an elaborate metal gazebo brought from Germany in the early 20th century, a sculpture of the writer Juan Rulfo sitting on one of the garden benches, and quarry fountains at the corners.
Surrounding the square are the main buildings of the city, including the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel.
El Guardián
This is the name given to an ancient tree. This impressive tree is located in a place known as La Mesa de la Yerbabuena, at the foothills of the Volcán de Fuego.
It is a tescalama or amate tree, estimated to be around 500 years old, and according to the locals, it has the mission of protecting the volcano.
It is a place worth visiting as you can take incredible photos of this magnificent tree and the impressive volcano.
Location
It is located approximately 8 km from the Colima Volcano and about 29 km, approximately 45 minutes from Comala. To reach it, you have to take a dirt road.
Ex Hacienda Nogueras
It is an old sugarcane hacienda dating back to the early 17th century, founded by Juan de Noguera.
It is nestled in a beautiful natural setting and became one of the region's sugar mills.
This former hacienda has been transformed into an ecopark, a cultural center, and a museum where the pictorial works of Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo.

Hacienda de San Antonio
Hacienda de San Antonio was a Porfirian coffee-producing hacienda.
It is now surrounded by extraordinary gardens where you can relax and walk in a beautiful natural environment.
This historic building has been renovated and offers excellent lodging and restaurant services.
Location
Ex Hacienda de Nogueras s/n, Nogueras, Colima. It is only a 12-minute drive from the center of the Magical Town.
La Nogalera
A small community where a gastronomic stop has been established.
Here you will find dining places where visitors can taste delicious sopes, quesadillas, or any other regional delicacies. Additionally, they offer temazcal services, which have therapeutic properties and are a result of the indigenous heritage of the area.
Location
Located next to the road, between the communities of Suchitlán and La Cofradía de Suchitlán, on the slopes of the Volcán de Fuego. It is approximately 6 km, about 12 minutes from the center of Comala.
La Yerbabuena
It is a place that offers an incomparable view of this colossal volcano.
It offers a unique attraction, El Árbol Guadián, which is attributed to be more than 500 years old and, according to legends, it is precisely the "guardian" of the volcano.
From this place, you can also appreciate the Nevado de Colima, making it an ideal spot for taking photographs.
Suchitlán
A town with strong Nahuatl traditions.
In the surroundings of Comala, it is worth visiting Suchitlán, a town known for its beautiful artisanal objects such as wooden masks, otate furniture, basketry elements, and carved wooden furniture and ornaments, mainly made of mahogany and parota wood.

Located approximately 9 km, about 18 minutes from the center of Comala.
Zacualpan
This indigenous community is located on the slopes of Cerro Grande, along the ravine formed by the Armería River.
It is characterized by its ancestral tradition of herbal medicine, which has been passed down from generation to generation.
It has a pleasant garden in the center of the town, and across from it, you will find the Zacualpan Community Cultural Center and Museum, where archaeological objects from the region, historical documents, and photographs are exhibited.
