AT THE FOOT OF THE VOLCANO DE FUEGO IN COLIMA

Its name means "place where comals are made" in Nahuatl, and its earliest inhabitants settled in this region over three thousand years ago.

It is located just 20 minutes from the City of Colima and is also known as the "White Town of America" due to its typical and picturesque appearance. The white houses with tiled roofs stand out among the orchards of lush vegetation, which are irrigated by the San Juan, Suchitlán, and Tía Barragana rivers, with the majestic Volcano de Fuego as a final backdrop.

This region preserves the provincial charm that has made it famous as one of the most beautiful in the state. To preserve its traditional appearance, the State Government declared Comala a Historic Monuments Zone in 1988.

Comala is famous for being the setting of Juan Rulfo's renowned book, Pedro Páramo. In fact, there is a statue dedicated to this acclaimed writer in the Main Garden.

In the midst of this magical atmosphere that transports you to another time, you can savor a delicious cup of organic coffee and then stroll through its cobbled streets adorned with colorful bougainvilleas.

The magic of Comala doesn't end in its streets; it also boasts an astonishing natural environment.

It has a temperate climate almost year-round, with an average temperature ranging from 23ºC in January to 27ºC in June.
