TOP SIGHTS IN COLIMA

Andador Constitución

Located in the historic center of the city, it is a pleasant place with a colonial style. It has become an important tourist attraction where you can see some artists performing music or watch artisans creating colorful ceramic pieces or traditional sarapes.

There are also several cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy typical dishes from Colima.

Archivo Histórico Municipal

The Historical Archive is housed in a beautiful house with a typical style of Colima city. The building preserves some of the oldest documents from Western Mexico.

It offers a video lending service on historical topics, as well as exhibitions of painting, sculpture, and other cultural expressions in a temporary exhibition hall.

Catedral de Colima (Cathedral)

Its construction began in 1863 and was consecrated in May 1894.

It was built on the site where the first Spanish settlers established the royal houses in 1525.

Jardín Libertad

A picturesque provincial corner with trees and a beautiful kiosk surrounded by typical porticos. It is a place where visitors and locals gather to enjoy leisure time.

It is surrounded by some of the city's most important buildings, such as the Cathedral and the Government Palace.

Palacio de Gobierno (Government Palace)

It was built between 1877 and 1906 on the site where the City Hall and the State Prison were located.

Although the building has been restored several times, it retains its original neoclassical style with a French influence and a strong regional flavor.

Hidalgo Theater

Its construction began in 1871 on the site where the house where Father Hidalgo resided in 1792 was located. The theater suffered severe damage during an earthquake in 1941, and after several uses, it was decided to remodel it in 1961. In 1997, its appearance was considerably improved.

It is considered one of the most beautiful theaters in the country and is the most important cultural venue in the state, hosting theater plays, concerts, conferences, and a wide variety of cultural events.

It is a neighboring town to the city of Colima.
