The Plaza de Armas is the heart of Comala.

At its center stands an elaborate metal gazebo brought from Germany in the early 20th century, a sculpture of the writer Juan Rulfo sitting on one of the garden benches, and quarry fountains at the corners.

Surrounding the square are the main buildings of the city, including the Parish of San Miguel Arcángel, a neoclassical temple dating back to the late 18th century, and the Municipal Presidency.

One of the main attractions of Comala are its arches, better known as Los Portales, located in front of the Plaza de Armas. They house typical restaurants where you can savor the varied regional cuisine accompanied by live traditional Mexican music.
