SURROUNDED BY JUNGLE VEGETATION ON THE BANKS OF THE USUMACINTA RIVER
Villahermosa is the capital of the state of Tabasco. It was the flourishing site of one of the oldest and most important cultures of Mesoamerica: the Olmec, and later, the astonishing Mayans dominated the region.
It is a progressive city that still retains its green, tropical provincial flavor. In the pedestrian streets of old Villahermosa, one can appreciate the warmth and joy of its people, earning it the nickname "The Emerald of the Southeast."
The most modern area of the city is Tabasco 2000, an area bathed by the Carrizal River. Here, you will find the Municipal Palace, the Convention Center, and beautiful residential areas. This area also houses the Planetarium, a large shopping plaza, a golf course, hotels, restaurants, and the modern Tabasco Park.
The predominant climate in most of its territory is warm and humid, with abundant rainfall in the summer, and an average annual temperature of 33.6°C.
