VILLAHERMOSA
Grutas de Coconá
The caves comprise an extension of 492 m (1,614 ft) in length and an illuminated corridor that allows easy access to its eight large halls and the figures that time has sculpted representing a unique attraction. Located 3 km from Teapa.
Nearby is the cave of Las Canicas, named for the rock formations found inside and that make it unique in the world. Considered one of the most extraordinary cavities in Mexico, the floor of one of its galleries, 80 m (262 ft) long, is covered with pearls from the caves, known as "marbles".
It is estimated that there are more than 18 million of these small calcite spheres in an area of 290 m2. In addition, inside there are several passages and rooms with formations of stalactites and columns, so exploring the cave is a great adventure. Located at km 5 of the Teapa-Tacotalpa highway.
Macuspana
Seventy kilometers east of Villahermosa is Agua Blanca, one of the most popular places, not only for its waterfalls and the magnificent natural environment, but also for the network of caves that extends inside its mountains.
One of these cavities is the Ixtac-Ha cave, which is reached by a long stone staircase. Although its total extension is 2,500 m, the section that has been conditioned for tourism is only the main gallery made up of rooms and passages decorated with surprising pillars of stalactites and stalagmites. The tour takes between 30 and 40 minutes, but it can be extended to other areas of the grotto.

Cueva de las Sardinas Ciegas (Blind Fish Cave)
Located near the Magic Town of Tapijulapa, within the Villa Luz Ecological Reserve, it is a place worth exploring. To get to the cave, you must cross a section of jungle on foot where you will spot a lot of wildlife such as parrot monkeys and toucans. To enter the place you have to rappel and inside the large gallery there is a milky turquoise pool that you have to cross to reach the tunnels through which you sometimes have to crawl, while listening to the gush of water .
This is one of the few places in the world where small pools of water are formed with gypsum sediments, minerals, salts and sulfur that are beneficial for rheumatic problems and respiratory diseases.
Despite the extreme conditions, it is the habitat of spiders, bats and, of course, blind sardines. This cavern is an important ritual site where the traditional sardine fishing ceremony is performed year after year.
Located 76 km from Villahermosa in Tacotalpa.
