It has become an important venue for Zacatecan artists who perform in the square on a weekly basis, such as the Thursday afternoon traditional concert by the Zacatecas State Symphonic Band.

It is also a forum for some cultural events.

It is located in front of the Fernando Calderón Theater and is flanked by impressive buildings.
