This is because the city was established around this square in 1592.

Currently, it is surrounded by impressive colonial monuments such as the Cathedral, the Chapel of Loreto, the Casa de la Virreina, and the Templo del Carmen, which are illuminated at night, creating a spectacle worth witnessing.

It features a sculpture of San Luis Rey de Francia, created by Mario Cuevas, a sculptor from San Luis Potosí.
