This pleasant town is considered the gateway to the Puuc Route.
It is characterized by its wide streets where you can appreciate its colorful buildings.
In downtown Maxcanú, there is a huge central square with leafy trees. This is the liveliest place in town, as there are several vendors offering a variety of products.
A little further on, you will find the Church of San Miguel Arcángel, with a simple yet elegant facade, just like its main altar. The red color of the church and the spectacular colors offered by the sunsets in this place often provide the opportunity for unforgettable photos.
This place, like some others in the region, has a heritage from the henequen era. Here, you can visit Chan Chocholá, a place with a magical atmosphere, as only a few remnants of its time of splendor remain, but it is definitely worth visiting.
Like in the rest of Yucatan, you must try the local dishes. In the town, there are several restaurants offering excellent dishes, but you can also visit the Maxcanú Market and savor pork stew with black beans.
It is located a little over an hour from Mérida.
