This hill, with an altitude of 2,610 meters, is one of the main symbols of the city of Zacatecas.

Due to its unique shape, the Spaniards gave it the name "Bufa," a word in the Basque language meaning "pig bladder."

La Bufa es recordada por haber sido escenario de la Batalla que marcó el fin de la dictadura de Victoriano Huerta, el 23 de junio de 1914 cuando las fuerzas de Francisco Villa tomaron Zacatecas.

Several of the city's most representative sites are located in this place, such as the Plaza de la Revolución Mexicana, the Chapel of the Virgen del Patrocinio, the Museum of the Taking of Zacatecas, the Meteorological Observatory (where bullet holes can still be seen in its walls), the Camera Obscura, the Cable Car, and the Mausoleum of Illustrious Men.

You can hike up the hill, and the journey takes about 15 minutes. However, if you prefer a more comfortable way to enjoy a panoramic view of the city, you can take the cable car and take postcard-worthy photos.

If you enjoy adventures, this is the place to try the 840-meter-long zipline, soaring over a ravine. You can ride it lying down, headfirst, or seated, depending on how much adrenaline you like. Bike or ATV tours are also available to explore the upper part of Cerro de la Bufa, up to Crestón Chino.
