The Cultural Center is a majestic 18th-century building.

The building was inhabited by important viceregal figures such as the Count of Santiago de la Laguna and occupied for over 200 years by local executives. It was even temporarily declared the National Palace when Benito Juárez and his cabinet worked there in early 1867.

It features high ceilings, large doors, impressive staircases, and beautiful balconies adorned with centuries-old ironwork.

However, perhaps the greatest distinction is the mural-relief located on the stately pink quarry staircase, created by Zacatecan artist Antonio Pintor, which narrates the history of Zacatecas from pre-Hispanic times to the present.
