It is the third most visited sanctuary in Mexico.
Approximately two million pilgrims come here every year.
It is a beautiful temple that was completed over two hundred years ago, with a beautifully crafted pink quarry stone facade in a Baroque style. Some of the original altarpieces were replaced by neoclassical altarpieces, chiseled by José Rosas Montaño.
Next to the sanctuary, there is a small convent cloister where thousands of ex-votos dedicated to the Santo Niño have accumulated on the walls. You can also read small stories of people who give living testimonies of faith. Other objects such as toys, clothing, hair, photographs, and notes requesting various favors are also exhibited.
In the vicinity, you can find several stalls selling various religious items, especially replicas of the Santo Niño de Atocha in all sizes.
Location
Calle Hidalgo s/n, Poblado Plateros. It is located in the community of Plateros, approximately 17 km, about half an hour from downtown Fresnillo, Zac.
