It is located where the meltwater from the volcanoes emerges.

Due to its geographical location, it has several water parks such as Los Sauces, Santa Isabel, and the Las Estacas Natural Park.

Its history is closely linked to the life of Emiliano Zapata. Some of its temples, museums, crafts, and dances are related to this hero of the Revolution.

The factory that minted the coins and banknotes ordered by the revolutionary was established here. It now houses the Museum of the Southern Revolution, where Zapata's clothing and saddle worn on the day of his assassination are exhibited, along with objects related to the Zapatista revolution.

It is also worth visiting the Monastery in the town, as the mausoleum of important Zapatistas is located in front of the temple's entrance.
