San Crisanto is a fishing village where you can enjoy an ecotourism adventure.
These experiences have been created by the locals, who opened a series of canals through the mangroves to discover beautiful freshwater springs and enigmatic cenotes.
Flat-bottomed boats are propelled by long poles, earning it the nickname "Tropical Venice." During the journey, you can enjoy the diverse species that inhabit the mangroves. So far, 137 animal species have been reported, including turtles, lizards, anteaters, raccoons, white-tailed deer, woodpeckers, white herons, and belizanos, among many others.
The main trail leads to the Dzonot-Tzik cenote, a freshwater natural spring with crystal-clear water where, as a result of Hurricane Isidoro, some sábalo fish got trapped and have grown over 60 cm in length over the years. You can swim peacefully alongside them. The main route leads to the Dzonot-Tzik cenote, a freshwater and crystalline spring where, due to the effects of Hurricane Isidore, some tarpons were trapped, and over the years, they have grown more than 60 cm, and you can swim with them safely.
In addition, the community offers over three kilometers of beautiful beaches facing a calm sea with shades of green and blue. During sunset, the tide retreats, creating a large stretch of more than 300 meters along the coast and about 100 meters offshore. It is an ideal place for camping, but there are also ecological huts built in the traditional Mayan style located along the seashore.
Location
It is located approximately 52 kilometers, about 50 minutes east of Puerto Progreso and an hour and a quarter from Mérida.
