The Cuzalapa organic coffee plantation located within the Sierra de Manantlán Biosphere Reserve is a must-see in Costalegre.
During December you can participate in the collection of red beans and learn more about the coffee production process, including peeling, drying and roasting the beans.
In addition to enjoying a good coffee, you will also have the opportunity to try organic honey and fruit jams from the region. It is located two and a half hours from Careyes.
Another option is La Manzanilla, which includes mangroves and the arm of a river that forms estuaries, has become a refuge for several species of alligators that can be observed in their natural hábitat, you can even visit a crocodile farm.
The waters are rather dark at this northern tip of the town of Manzanilla and are covered in huge mangrove branches that obstruct the view, so you have to be very attentive to see a pair of eyes peeking out of the water.
If you are lucky enough to be in Costalegre during the first rain of the storm, you can visit some of the beaches, especially the less crowded ones, and you will find yourself surrounded by curious crabs that are totally harmless.
