Information
Its construction began in 1863 and was consecrated in May 1894.
It was built on the site where the first Spanish settlers established the royal houses in 1525.
Due to the intense seismic activity that occurred in the years 1900, 1932, and 1941, it has been reconstructed and modified in some of its original elements.
Its main facade is austere, with a single-body entrance, a coral window, and slender and elegant towers. The entrance consists of two pairs of Ionic columns flanking the access arch. The coral window features a stained glass depicting Saint Philip of Jesus.
The interior is predominantly decorated in neoclassical style, with intricate arch moldings resembling fine wickerwork, as well as phytomorphic decorations on the frieze and cornice. Another important detail is the cedar wood carvings on the pulpit.
