TOP SIGHTS IN CIUDAD DEL CARMEN
Atasta
Borders Ciudad del Carmen and is connected by the El Zacatal Bridge.
A village with a beautiful boardwalk and a great diversity of fauna, including manatees in its lagoon.
Nearby is Xicalango, an interesting archaeological site. In pre-Hispanic times, this was a very important port for trade among the Mayans, Olmecs, and Mexicas.
Barrio del Guanal
The first seven families settled here in 1722. Its temple dedicated to the Virgen de Asunción was the first to be built in 1815.
As the oldest neighborhood, it maintains its prominence with the construction of Marseille tile houses and beautiful balcony windows.
Faro de Isla Aguada (Lighthouse)

Museo Victoriano Nieves
Located in a beautiful 19th-century building that was once the old "Victoriano Nieves" hospital.

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora del Carmen
Built in 1856 with harmonious lines.
It consists of a vestibule, two towers, and an angled tympanum that covers the roof edges.
Inside, there is a lateral structure and a marble altar housing the Virgin of Carmen.
Around the nave, there are paintings depicting the Stations of the Cross, and as a gesture of gratitude, Carmelite sailors hang miniature replicas of the shrimp boats they crew at the entrance of the church.
