The railroad station in Cuautla was inaugurated in 1881.

It was built on the grounds that previously belonged to the orchard of the Convent of San Diego and had significant activity during the Revolution with the Zapatista armies. It was here that Zapata received Francisco I. Madero in 1911.

The train platforms are part of the Ex Convento de San Diego (Former Convent of San Diego).

The Steam Engine 279 is the last functioning steam engine in the country, and it still offers enjoyable rides, which are particularly popular among children.

Please note that it only operates on the second Saturday of each month, but you can board any of the carriages and see how people traveled in the early 20th century.
