A tranquil town with wide streets.
Villaldama is characterized by beautiful old buildings that have been well preserved.
This town had a period of splendor due to the silver and zinc deposits found in the surrounding hills and mountains in the 17th century.
However, many of these old houses in the old neighborhood have been abandoned, and plants grow over the rubble and old furniture, which has led the locals to tell many legends and stories about the former inhabitants.
The Municipal Palace is located on one corner of the main square and is an elegant Porfirian building with light tones and columns that give it a unique eclectic style.
Another building that adorns the main square is the Temple of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which is a mysterious construction that was initially part of a hospice founded to accommodate the Franciscans. This temple was never completed but remains one of the icons of Villaldama.
The Ermita de la Santa Cruz, the only church in the state with the entire Stations of the Cross on its staircase.
You can also visit the Municipal Museum, which exhibits antiques and photographs that depict the history of the place.
If you want to enjoy with your family, there is the Rivera del Río Recreational Park, with a swimming pool, huts, and barbecue areas.
