At the beginning of autumn, the female turtles always return to the exact beach on which they were born to lay up to 200 eggs at a time.
For 45 days the eggs remain buried in the sand and when they hatch they climb up the shell to the surface and try to reach the sea, avoiding all kinds of dangers.
Punta Peñitas is one of the places most visited by turtles, including Playa Peñitas and Majahuas.
In Playa Majahuas you can visit one of the most important turtle camps in the state of Jalisco, where protection and conservation is very important.
In these camps you can participate to ensure that this reproduction process is not interrupted and preserve the various species that arrive at this destination such as the leatherback, olive ridley and loggerhead.
If you decide to participate in this unforgettable experience, you must follow the instructions of the guides, such as not touching the little turtles when they arrive to lay their eggs and helping the small turtles to reach the sea.
The season on the Pacific coast runs officially from December to March.
