ACULCO

It is the best area for traditional crack climbing, the canyon has walls full of basaltic prisms and a beautiful 25-meter (82 feet) high waterfall that is truly impressive in summer.

There are over 150 rock climbing routes with cracks of all sizes and good jam technique is very important here.

As if all this were not enough, in the same canyon there are many very good boulders.

You can also climb the Peña de Ñado that reaches a height of 3170-meter (10,728 feet) and its name means “Stone Head” in Otomi.

TOLUCA

It is located 12 km, approximately 22 minutes from Toluca and the archaeological zone. It has a group of andesite rock with 9 climbing routes of different levels.

Rock Climbing in Estado de México

Xonacatlan

In a place called La Capilla, there are about 10 blocks to be climbed with dangerous falls, so it is recommended for the more experienced. Some blocks are tall and some boulders have uneven bases. It is located 28 minutes from Toluca.

Nevado de Toluca

In the Nevado de Toluca there are some boulders of different sizes. This expedition involves two challenges, since you have to climb a good part of the mountain to enjoy the thrill of the rocks.

TEPOTZOTLÁN

Jilotepec

In Jilotepec, just an hour from Mexico City, there are a large number of sectors with good routes. Las Peñas de Dexcani has more than 80 rock climbing routes for various degrees of ability; The rock is a volcanic conglomerate, so you can climb throughout the year while enjoying its oak forested landscape. It is located 54.8 km, approximately one hour from Tepotzotlán.

Jilotzingo

Los Venados is located 65 km from Jilotzingo and one hour from Tepotzotlán. It offers 20 rock climbing routes prepared with overhangs and volcanic rock. To get there you have to walk uphill through a beautiful landscape of oyameles and pine trees.

Nzafi – Las Manzanas

It is located within an ecotourism park 47 minutes from Tepotzotlán and offers rhyolitic rock with a large number of holes and ridges at 3,000 meters above sea level. This area also offers a good bouldering area.

Las Bejas

Las Bejas is located very close to Tepotzotlán (30 km), is a place with fun overhangs.

Ehécatl Ecological Park
