This cavity was formed when the limestone floor collapsed. It has a depth of 478 meters and a diameter of 60 meters.
It is considered a Protected Natural Area and also an Indigenous Paradise.
It is home to white-chested swifts and green parakeets, which give the site its name. In the regional dialect, it is called Huahuas, and it is also known as the Sanctuary of the Parrots.
It offers a spectacle similar to Sótano de las Golondrinas (Cave of the Swallows), but in this case, it is green parakeets that return to the sinkhole at dusk, creating an almost deafening noise.
The best time to visit is at sunrise or sunset when thousands of parrots enter and exit the cave, creating a unique spectacle. cuando miles de cotorros entran y salen a la cueva, un espectáculo único.
