Sinaloa boasts a unique mix of habitats, including miles of secluded beaches, mangroves, and rolling hills that rise up to coniferous forests.
This diversity of ecosystems provides the habitat for more than 400 species of birds, 35 of them endemic such as the spotted jay, beautiful black-faced magpie, gorse cyprus, and the Mexican trogon, among others.

This is a place with saltwater and freshwater lagoons and tropical deciduous forests. It is located only 5 km from Mazatlán.
Isla de Piedra (Stone Island)
In the vicinity of Mazatlán, on Isla de Piedra, you can explore its estuaries and enjoy the diversity of birds in the area.
Chiricacueto Lagoon
Thousands of seabirds can be found in the Chiricacueto Lagoon. Among the resident birds are: the brown pichihuila and the white wing, diving duck, gray heron, white heron, little heron and thrush, among others. The migratory birds arrive from October to March, and among them are: Canadian goose, blue-winged and green-winged teal, boludo duck, swallow duck, etc.

Ejido El Palmito
A beautiful town with a long history. This pine-oak forest is an ideal place for watching the Sinaloan spotted jay, as well as more than a hundred different species. It is located 102 km from Mazatlán in the municipality of Concordia
Cacaxtla Plateau Flora and Fauna Protection Area
It is one of the favorite places for the Sinaloan jay, but if you visit the area you can explore the ancient petroglyphs and enjoy the beautiful landscapes including the estuaries. It is located 28 km from Mazatlán.
Playa Verde Camacho
In addition to being a Sanctuary for the Sea Turtle, it is the habitat of thousands of birds. In the white and red mangrove that surrounds it, you can easily see dozens of birds such as roseate spoonbills, brown and white pelicans, diving ducks, gray herons, as well as other animals such as crocodiles, white-tailed deer and wild boars. It is located half an hour from Mazatlán very close to the town of Mármol.
Cosalá
In the surroundings of this magnificent Magical Town there is a natural reserve that was formerly part of the area dedicated to mining. The vegetation is mostly low jungle and is home to more than a hundred species of birds. It is located 170 km from Mazatlan.
