IXTAPAN DE LA SAL

Zacualpan

In Zacualpan the elevations of Cerro Alto, the Picacho, the Camp and the Temptation, are some of the options to hike in the area.

It is located 46.7 km, approximately one hour from Ixtapan de la Sal.

Iztaccíhuatl and Popocatepetl

The State of Mexico has three of the highest peaks in the country, Popocatépetl (5,452 m/17,887 ft) and Iztaccíhuatl (5,230 m/17,158 ft) and Xinantécatl or Nevado de Toluca (4,680 m/15,354 ft).

The Iztaccíhuatl and the Popocatépetl are part of the Izta-Popo National Park with an extension of 40,000 ha. of coniferous forests. From Amecameca, Paso de Cortés or La Joya, you can enjoy an unforgettable view of the volcanoes.

The park also offers two interpretive trails to learn more about the nature of the place: Teporingo and Yoloxóchitl.

Nevado de Toluca

The Nevado de Toluca has pleasant surprises for you in the ascent. When you arrive to the crater you will discove two amazing lagoons about 4580 meters above sea level. An unforgettable adventure.

El Nevado has other elevations that can be explored: Pico de Águila, La Oruga, El Escorpión and El Paso del Quetzal.

VALLE DE BRAVO

La Peña del Príncipe is very close to Valle de Bravo. The view from the top is incredible; on a clear day you can see the mountains behind the lake and the sunset is a unforgettable experience. 

VILLA DEL CARBÓN

Cerro de la Bufa

You can also climb Cerro de la Bufa located very close to Villa del Carbón. The mountain at an altitude of 3,600 meters above sea level, has an incredible viewpoint at the top.
