Epiphany (Día de Reyes)

One of the most important celebrations in the context of Mexico's Christmas traditions.
The celebration dates back to the early years of evangelization in New Spain, where it is said that three kings from the East, riding a camel, a horse, and an elephant, were guided by a bright star to the birthplace of baby Jesus to worship him and present him with gold for being king, myrrh for being human, and incense for being God.
A fun event that includes mechanical rides, the queen's coronation, children's shows, amateur contests, and a gastronomic and artisanal showcase. The most important activity is the parade.
January Grand Festival (Fiesta Grande de Enero)

Location: Chiapa de Corzo, Chiapas
This traditional event features mechanical rides and local stalls selling crafts and a variety of snacks.
Main events include the celebration of Saint Anthony Abbot on January 17 and Saint Sebastian Martyr on January 20. Additionally, the Naval Combat show takes place on Sunday, January 21, and the parade of floats on Monday, January 22.
The fair includes juegos mecánicos (carnival rides), livestock exhibitions, eventos ecuestres(equestrian/horse shows), and a display of local crafts and gastronomy, as well as cultural activities.
León Fair (Feria Estatal de León)

Location: León, Guanajuato
An event that celebrates the founding of León and is known as the best family fair in the country. The fair includes various cultural and musical events.
Jiutepec Carnival
Date; January 18th – 26th
Location: Jiutepec, Morelos
This event marks the start of carnival season. The first event is the comparsas meeting on January 14. Highlights include the widow's supershow and the traditional "brinco del chinelo."
Tenosique Carnival

Location: Tenosique, Tabasco
One of the most important fairs in the state, featuring various cultural and sports events, as well as indigenous dances and gastronomic and artisanal showcases.
Tecomán Lemon Fair (Tecomán Lemon Fair)

Location: Tecomán, Colima
This magnificent festival is full of joy and fun, including livestock, artisanal, and commercial exhibitions, as well as cultural and sports activities, a Palenque, and a People's Theater.
Tonatico Fair
Dates; January 24th – February 2nd
Location: Tonatico, State of Mexico
This celebration combines joy with devotion, as it is held to venerate the Virgen de Tonatico. During this event, locals walk through the streets with lanterns and songs, accompanied by traditional danzantes (ritual dancers). There is also a sale of antojitos (traditional snacks) and crafts, as well as musical performances.
Valladolid Expo Fair

A well-known event in southeastern Mexico for its joy and fun, held in honor of the Virgin of Candlemas. It includes mechanical rides, sports competitions, traditional vaquerías, the queen's coronation, and various artistic and cultural events, including folk dances and live music.
Feria del Tamal (Tamale Festival)
Date: January 29th – February 2nd
Location: Coyoacán, Mexico City
It takes place at the Museo de las Culturas and includes cultural, artistic, and craft events. However, the "star of the show" is the tamal, where you can taste all flavors, both sweet and savory. Make sure to try the champurrado (thick, chocolate-based drink), ponche (hot fruit punch made with sugarcane, guava, and hawthorn), and hot chocolate.
Feria Regional de la Candelaria Sombrerete (Candlemas Regional Fair)
Dates: January 29th – February 8th
Location: Sombrerete, Zacatecas
This Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) offers spectacular bullfights, carnival rides, crafts, and a gastronomic exhibition.
There is a teatro del pueblo (open-air community stage), sporting, religious, and cultural events, as well as traditional charrería activities and Banda music (style of Mexican music played with brass instruments and heavy percussion).
Feria de la Fundación de San José Iturbide (San José Iturbide Foundation Fair)
Date: January 30th – February 8th
Location: San José Iturbide, Guanajuato
There is a wide variety of concerts at the Teatro del Pueblo (open-air stage or arena where famous artists perform), as well as lucha libre (masked wrestling), carnival rides, sporting and cultural events, delicious local cuisine, and regional crafts.
Carnaval Carmen (Carmen Carnival)
Dates: January 30th – February 18th
Location: Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche
Known for its festive atmosphere, deep-rooted traditions, and active community participation. It features parades of comparsas (dance troupes), carros alegóricos (floats), and batucadas (drumming groups), along with musical shows, food tastings, and family events.
Candelaria Festivities
Date: January 31 to February 9
Location: Tlacotalpan, Veracruz
One of the most important patronal celebrations in southeastern Mexico, with a tradition dating back over 250 years. The celebration includes artistic and cultural activities, gastronomic showcases, fandangos, and rodeos.
The most notable event is the procession of the Virgin on the waters of the Papaloapan River on February 2.
