FESTIVALS AND EVENTS IN JUNE

National Cheese and Wine Fair

Date: May 22 to June 8

Location: Tequisquiapan, Querétaro

The fair aims to promote the renowned cheeses and wines of Querétaro and other regions of the country.

The gastronomic festival is accompanied by a variety of high-level musical activities and events.

The event includes conferences, tastings, dinners, exhibitions, workshops, and cultural activities related to culinary themes.

The venue is La Pila Park, located two blocks from the main square.

Expo Feria Cárdenas

Date: May 30 to June 7

Location: Cárdenas, Tabasco

The fair offers mechanical rides, a craft and commercial show, and of course a wide variety of Mexican snacks.

It also includes a selection of musical performances with quality artists.

 

Harvest Festival in Querétaro (Fiestas de la Vendimia en Querétaro)

Date: June to September

Location: Querétaro Vineyards

This is a festival where you can taste the best wines from each winery, accompanied by cheeses, bread, and cold meats. 

You can also experience activities such as grape stomping and getting a close look at the winemaking process.

Reservations and ticket purchases must be made in advance.

Firefly Season

Date: June to early August

Location: Nanacamilpa Forests, Tlaxcala

This is a beautiful natural spectacle where the forests of Tlaxcala light up with the arrival of thousands of fireflies that come to these places to reproduce, as the region has ideal conditions of humidity and food for the larvae.

The firefly sighting begins at 8:30 PM and lasts approximately one hour, which is when the females start to light up to attract the males and fertilize their eggs.

International Wine Festival

Date: June 6 and 7

Location: San Luis Potosí, San Luis Potosí

The festival aims to showcase the winemaking traditions of the state with the participation of more than 50 wineries from different parts of the world.

There are conferences led by important industry figures, awards, tastings, a wine tasting zone, as well as various activities including concerts, art exhibitions, photography, and painting.

Taco Festival in Mexico City

Date: June 6 to 8

Location: Av. Juárez, Cuajimalpa, Mexico City

This is one of the festivals that has been gaining popularity. It offers a great opportunity to taste a wide variety of tacos such as tacos al pastor, tacos de canasta, flautas, barbacoa, carnitas, and many other traditional Mexican snacks.

 

Feria del Cobre (Copper Fair)

Date: June 6 to 15

Location: Cananea, Sonora

This fair offers a wide range of activities for all ages, highlighting Cananea’s rich history and mining heritage.

It features an opening parade, a mining and artisan exhibition, as well as cultural and artistic events.

There are also equestrian shows, a food court, taco fair, amusement rides, concerts, and popular dances with well-known musical groups. 

Expo Navojoa

Date: June 6 to 15

Location: Navojoa, Sonora

At this event, you can enjoy sports and cultural events, mechanical rides, a commercial expo, a gastronomic show, a circus, and local theater with prominent popular music performers.

 

Expo Feria Castaños

Date: June 6 to 15

Location: Metropolitan Area of Monclova-Frontera, Coahuila

Castaños is located in the center of Coahuila near Monclova, and this event is one of the most important in the state.

It offers a commercial, gastronomic, and craft expo, as well as performances by renowned artists.

Patronal Festival in Calpulalpan

Date:  June 7 to 22

Location: Calpulalpan, Tlaxcala

This is a festival in honor of the patron saint, San Antonio de Padua, featuring a wide variety of events such as a commercial and craft expo, a parade of floats, a gastronomic show, dances, cultural and religious activities, as well as local theater with participation from local and national artists.

The festival also includes equestrian shows, rodeo, mechanical rides, and a Palenque featuring top-level artists.

 

Festival of the Deer

Date: June 7 to July 29

Location: Mazamitla, Jalisco

The fair includes workshops, conferences, a commercial expo, and food and craft exhibitions. It also presents musical and folkloric performances from local and guest regions, with a different guest country each year. Some of the performances take place in the streets.

It is known for its large-format deer sculptures created by national artists.

There are also multidisciplinary workshops open to the public.

National Fair in Gómez Palacio

Date: June 13 to July 7

Location: Gómez Palacio, Durango

This major celebration includes mechanical rides, a commercial and craft zone, as well as cultural and sports events.

It is considered the fair with the best food in the region in its traditional gastronomic plaza.

Additionally, it features top artists performing at the Palenque, the Velaria, and the Terrace. 

San Juan del Río Fair

Date: June 13 to 29

Location: San Juan del Río, Querétaro

The fair features various sports and cultural events, a commercial, craft, and livestock expo, a gastronomic show, mechanical rides, a circus, a medieval show, a themed farm, equestrian shows, a haunted house, bullfights, wrestling, and American rodeo.

It also offers local theater and a Palenque with internationally renowned artists. 

Corpus Christi Fair

Date: June 14 to 22

Location: Papantla, Veracruz

The fair evokes the deepest roots of the religious-popular culture of the region's towns, blending the religious Corpus Christi festival (Body of Christ), celebrated around sixty days after Holy Thursday, with the pre-Hispanic solar calendar festival marking the change of season every 65 days. 

As part of the pre-Hispanic heritage, the fair includes celebrations such as the dances of the "negritos," "quetzales," and "guaguas" in the atrium of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, as well as the Papantla Flyers' show.

Additionally, the fair features various activities such as the people's theater, the Palenque, the Charro ring, regional costume exhibitions, crafts, and dances, among others.

One of the most anticipated events is the Xanath Festival, a traditional scenic narration of the Spanish conquest and the Totonac people's defense, recreated in a beautiful light and sound show.

Parade of the Crazy People (Desfile de los Locos)

Date: June 15

Location: San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato

This celebration takes place on the first Sunday after the day of San Antonio. 

It is a magical and original event where you can find amusing characters from comics, television, fiction, and even politics.

The large caravan starts the parade at the Salida a Celaya, touring the main streets of this beautiful World Heritage town until reaching Cuna de Allende.

At this point, they are awaited by a crowd that applauds them, to which the "crazies" respond with sweets and gifts.

 

San Pedro Tlaquepaque Fair

Date: June 21 to July 6 

Location: Tlaquepaque, Jalisco

This event is held in honor of Saint Peter and offers children's shows, concerts by well-known music groups, amusement rides, artisan and commercial sales, a livestock exhibition, rodeos, a textile expo, a mini farm, and a gastronomic showcase.

It also features a Palenque and a People's Theater where popular artists and bands perform.

The fair includes traditional dances, pilgrimages, liturgical events, and fireworks displays, creating a festive atmosphere.

San Pedro Garza García Fair

Date: June 27 to July 27

Location: San Pedro Garza García, Nuevo León

This municipality is part of the Monterrey metropolitan area and celebrates the feast of Saints Peter and Paul on June 26 in Plaza Juárez.

The event includes the coronation of the queen, an extensive area of mechanical rides, a commercial expo, sports and cultural events, a gastronomic show, and an attractive lineup of artists performing at the local theater.

Veracruz Carnival

Date: June 25 to July 1

Location: Veracruz, Veracruz

Considered one of the happiest carnivals in the world and the most important in Mexico.
Throughout the city, you can hear the sounds of marimbas, guitars, and harps. People dance everywhere to the rhythm of danzón and batucadas.

In the main square, plazas, and parks, various local orchestras perform to liven up the festivities, and the parades always feature well-known artists.

LGBTIQ+ Pride March

Date: June 28

Location: From the Angel of Independence to the Zócalo, Mexico City


This has become one of the most important events in Mexico City, where more than a million people join the celebration. It is full of music, color, and people standing up for their rights. 

There are concerts, speeches, and cultural activities.
