Its name is taken from a bird commonly found in this place. Your tour begins near El Álamo, a town between the El Pegüis mountain range and the Cuchillo Parado mountain range.
This natural wonder in the middle of the desert is 16 km long and up to 350 m (984 ft) deep, totally vertical limestone walls and the Conchos River crosses its depths and is considered one of the most beautiful canyons in Mexico.
Whether on foot or by boat you can enjoy the beautiful landscapes.
The river runs into impressive walls and is perfect for rafting with rapids that can reach category IV.
It is also an ideal place to practice canyoning. Along the way, you can discover some rock paintings with geometric shapes that date back thousands of years.
There are also some natural pools where you can swim and some caves to explore.
There is a place known as El Salto where you can find the typical desert vegetation of biznagas and nopales along with some stones. Furthermore, it has a large stretch of boulders to challenge those who like climbing.
This is a tour that is only recommended for people in good physical condition, since once you enter the canyon you cannot get out until the end. In addition, it is also recommended not to visit it in the hot months because the weather is very extreme.

Location
Located about 2 km from Coyame and 40 km from Ojinaga, Chihuahua on Carr. Chihuahua – Ojinaga in the direction of Ojinaga. On the road there is a viewpoint from where you can see this natural wonder. It is just over two hours from the city of Chihuahua.
